The schaol was the oldest in
the district. The community was progressive and nationally proud and conscious
- in occupation-times the folk of Lidice formed a strong national barrier.
All what remained after the tragedy
was the grave of the heroic men of Lidice, a few personal things and the
following pictures. The women suffered in the german comcentration
camps and only a few children returned after the war to their mothers.
Since England proclaimed the slogan
"Lidice shall live" - this words found an echo in the whole unoccupied
world.
The preparatory works are finished. A new Lidice is
growing up and to its citizens speaks this book.
